TO: RIVER’S EDGE ESTATES HOMEOWNERS
Notice from the River’s Edge Board of Directors
In order to ensure the safety of the homeowners of River’s Edge Estates and their properties, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, notice is hereby given that open burning on property within the community is not allowed even with a Forestry Commission permit. The following forms of “contained” burns are allowed provided that constant supervision is provided at all times:
Cooking fires such as grills
Fire pits/rings (bordered by stone, brick, concrete, or steel, etc. and with a protective screen) with an interior no larger than 3 feet in diameter
Propane fueled lanterns, heaters, and fire pits, etc.
We are simply not equipped to deal with fires given that we are on a well system and an ordinary household hose will not suffice in the event that a fire gets out of hand. Please make arrangements to have large amounts of lawn/yard clippings and debris removed from your property or chipped for your own mulch.
We realize that this may seem a nuisance to some, and that there has been confusion in the past as to whether or not fires were permitted in River’s Edge, even when one has followed proper channels. The fact is that River’s Edge and other local communities are on a list with the county as communities which require permission from the Homeowners Association in addition to a permit to have an open burn. River’s Edge is in a non burn status until further notice, with the exceptions listed above. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact the office or the Board directly.
These measures are necessary to protect the lives and property of your fellow homeowners, as well as the financial security of the Association. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
